Usage

Use this template to identify the historical scope of an article:

Single year:

	Historical – This article contains historical information related to the year 2380.

Year range:

	Historical – This article contains historical information related to the time period 2380–2390.

Unspecified:

	Historical – This article contains historical information related to the time period an unspecified date.

→ shows “an unspecified date”

What this template does

This template distinguishes between: - A **numeric year** like 2380, which links to Category:2380 (if available), - A **date range** or text string, displayed as a “time period”, - Or nothing, defaulting to “an unspecified date”.

Tooltips offer added clarity without cluttering the interface.

Categorization

Pages transcluding this template are added to Category:History, but the `Template:Hist` page itself is excluded.
