Pulse Phaser Cannon

Star Fleet R&D have made several advancements in crystal fabrication with in microgravity labs and high-speed beam-focusing coils allowed the development of the pulse phaser cannons first fielded on the Defiant Class of star ships.

The high rate of fire capable by the cannons when compared to the phaser arrays deployed on Star Fleet vessels. Instead of the standard beam the cannons fire a pulse of energy that is structured in layers. This means there is less energy dissipation between the emitter and the target. Also, the layered construction of the pulse is harder to disperse by the target.

Cannon Components

Power Supply:

The phaser cannon is supplied by dedicated EPS conduits feeding rapid-discharge EPS capacitance banks. When the cannon is fired the capacitance banks dump energy into the prefire chamber by way of magnetic valve gates.

Prefire Chamber:

The prefire chamber are two LiCu 531 crystal spheres reinforced with gulium arkenide outer shell. The prefire chamber. Inside the prefire chamber the chamber that the energy derived from the EPS system undergoes the initial EM spectrum shift as a result of the RNE. The crystals used in the prefire chamber were grown in a microgravity facility resulting in a crystal without the microscopic flaws that are normally found in crystals grown under normal condition. Resulting a more efficient Reaction between the crystal and energy during the Rapid Nadion Effect.

Emitter Assembly:

The emitter assembly is a shaped LiCu 531 crystal. Where the emission surface of other emitters used by Star Fleet vessels is a flat surface. The emission surface of the Emitter for the pulse cannon is Concave resulting in a more confined energy packet than that of other phaser weapons.

Beam Focusing Coils:

The emitted energy pulse passes through the Beam focusing coils before finally exiting the phaser cannon. The focusing coils are fabricated from forced-matrix cobalt-lanthanide-boronite and when energized by power from the EPS system generate a magnetic field that constricts the phaser pulse further giving the pulse its final shape.

Cooling System:

To keep the phaser cannon within safe operating temperatures the cannon system is cooled by regenerative cooling loops of Liquid Nitrogen. The loops transfers the waste heat generated by the cannon to the radiator beds embedded in the outer hull of the ship.
